Operations & Marketing Lieutenant

Two years after humble beginnings, this little but mighty travel brand is itching to grow.
For the right person, this is a dream job. You can be a smart generalist and have your hands in everything while you help build a growing travel ecommerce brand. You'll get to experiment and see ideas through at jet-speeds.
Help build a machine! Help make our mission shine through everything!
We want to inspire thoughtful travel and encourage Americans to explore the world.
We are creating beautiful educational material, connecting travel bloggers, and designing stuff people love.

Your role

This is a right hand man (or woman) position. Second-in-command.
Your job role 1) keeping the business running smoothly 2) grow the brand and distribution channels sending us to new nooks of the world.

We'll brainstorm up new ideas together, and you'll bring them to life, handling the logistics and getting to see the results.

What you will be doing the next 3 months

There are a few ideas on the backlog that you can start working on immediately. We will draw this out like a treasure map for you to dig towards week by week.
  • Reaching out to travel bloggers in our space and building relationships
  • Helping create and manage a campus rep program
  • Managing two other assistants and growing social media accounts
  • Learning and adding to our company wiki, and taking over routine tasks
  • Improving our excel inventory and sales dashboard
  • Create an outreach program for retailers
  • Give feedback on new product development

You like people and enjoy connecting online
This is a people based role where you'll be interacting with contractors and customers regularly. You should be able to keep others motivated and provide feedback. When doing outreach, people should be pumped to get your email in their inbox and enjoy corresponding with you.
You're going to be building a machine. You're analytical and don't have excel-o-phobia. You're comfortable creating a process for everything you do daily. And creating processes for those who could be reporting with you in the future.
    Spectacularly engaging writing skills
You're thinking to yourself "I could rewrite this job post and make it a zillion times better"
    • A love for getting organized on Asana
    • Tight visual taste and basic image editing skills
    • Some playtime with Facebook Ads

    • This isn't a coasting job. It's a learning-oriented role for someone excited to see the ins-and-outs of a growing ecommerce brand.
    • You'll be expected to hit deadlines and work through weekly sprints. You'll need a get-it-done attitude. If you don't know something, you'll learn it and ask help if you're stuck.
    • You'll work mostly on your own. Which means you'll have to be organized and self-motivated to hit deadlines. Initially, there will be co-working and collaboration with the founder.
    • The first 2-months will be seen as a trial period and you're guaranteed to learn. Don't treat this as temp job though. The goal is that you can run the operations of the company and maneuver yourself into a linchpin position.

    What's in it for you?

    • Austin based job but with the freedom to take stints working abroad
    • A basic starting rate while you ramp up
    • A high growth role that can put you in an important position quickly with a profit share
    • Lots of learning and a laboratory for short feedback-loop experimentation
